Sad and the Psalms

I keep neglecting my blog and I am sad for I want to come back to it. I feel I am neglecting several important things in my life as well. My family is one.  I have not seem my OKC kids, grand kids, or my parents in a very long time.  I love living in Alma and most days I am fine with being so far away from family, but tonight I realize I am missing out on their lives and I am a little sad.  So instead of wallowing in my grief, I chose to turn to God through the Psalms for comfort.  I will list a few for you with the hope of them bringing you encouragement as well.

His delight is in the law of the LORD and in His law he meditates day and night. 1:2
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish. 1:6
Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling. 1:11
Blessed are those who put their trust in Him. 1:12b
I cried to the LORD with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill.3:4
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!  You have relieved me in my distress, Have mercy on me and hear my prayers. 4:1
For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous :With favor You will surround him as with a shield. 5:12
O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, who have set Your glory above the heavens. 8:1
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him 8:3-4
I will praise YOU, O LORD, with my whole heart: I will tell of all Your marvelous works.  I will be glad and rejoice in You. I will sing praises to YOUR name, O Most High. 9:1-2
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.  And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, LORD have not forsaken those who seek you. 9:10
I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, because He has dealt bountifully with me. 13:5

I am going to continue reading on...I hope these verses encourage you to seek God through His word when you are sad.  He is truly the One who will lift your head.

Sounds like you've done the right thing at the present moment by turning your emotions over to the Lord and trusting Him with your sadness. You need to make time to get away to OKC and see your loved ones...that sounds like it needs to be a priority. You'll smile and laugh and it will help a lot :D
